Fare Structure

In a significant move towards enhancing public transportation in Pune, an integrated fare system is set to revolutionize the way commuters travel within the city. The initiative aims to simplify the process of transferring between different modes of transport, making it more convenient and efficient for passengers. At the heart of this transformation is the MiCard (Marathi: मी कार्ड), a smart card that is currently in use for bus and BRTS services operated by the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML). This article explores how MiCard is becoming the common mobility card for metro services and parking facilities, creating a more seamless commuting experience for Pune’s residents.

Seamless Transfers

One of the most significant challenges faced by commuters in any city is the hassle of transferring between different modes of public transportation. The integrated fare system aims to address this issue by allowing passengers to switch between buses, BRTS, and the metro seamlessly, using a single card. This means that commuters will no longer need to purchase separate tickets or tokens when transitioning from one mode of transport to another. This not only saves time but also simplifies the entire commuting experience.

MiCard: The Common Mobility Card

MiCard, a smart card introduced by PMPML, has been instrumental in making this integrated fare system a reality. Originally designed for bus and BRTS services, this card has gained popularity among Pune’s residents due to its convenience and ease of use. Now, with the expansion of its utility, MiCard is set to become the common mobility card for the entire transportation network in Pune.
